I like a good quest, like the search for the ultimate caramel slice!

Norma Blue Ginger Caramel slice

Subtle ginger flavor and crunchy base, like a good quality ginger crunch. Lovely sticky caramel with great colour and flavour. Generous stripes of great chocolate are the perfect topping. Best served slightly warmed. A top slice and points for difference. Friendly, sunny cafe with great fluffies. 

Muffin break caramel slice

Fudgy biscuity base. Perhaps biscuit based. Chocolatey. 

Choc ganache icing

Caramel has great consistency. Not chewey but smooth with well developed and clear flavor. Good quantity nice and thick. 

Overall a winning combo and one of the top choices.

Abode caramel slice

Chocolate top. Quality dark choc. Thick

Caramel is dense and chewy. Perhaps too chewy

Base has coconut, not a fan.  Buttery and crisp. No cocoa. 

Overall not that great. No craving to have it again.

Naenae caramel slice

An awesome bakery slice from the hot bread shop bakery next to the lotto shop opposite the pool in Naenae.  Awesome value at around $2, this is really a wonderful slice.  Beautifully flavoured caramel, a lovely crumbly chocolaty base, with a tasty chocolate crumble on top.  Somewhat like a Tan Square.  And as a lovely bonus each slice has a couple of pieces of really yummy chocolate on top.  An all-time favourite. 

Pak n save Petone Caramello Slice

This is a really really yummy slice.  The base has a nice fudgy texture, the caramel is very nice, and the chocolate ganache topping is lovely.  It is a good price too, under $3.  A slice worth going out of your way for.  Don't just get one!

Arabicca cafe Oreo slice 

Buttery biscuit base. Well flavoured rich sweet caramel. Yum but deadly one bite in!

 





Sweet Vanilla Cafe Caramel Slice

A lovely slice from a lovely cafe.  Gluten Free for those who need it.  Good tasting caramel on scrumptious base.  Not too much coconut.  Nice chocolate icing.  A really satisfying slice.
